(via allisontunnell) Fourth of July with the Procrastinators. We got to play at Dexter Lake State park on a huge semi trailer and great sound system. There were over 4,000 people there. It was also over 110 degrees up there!

Sunrise obscured by smoke coming from the huge Tumblebug fire in Oakridge. Looks like the apocalypse. Hmmm… 96 degrees in September, huge fires, all the pines trees are dying from beetles, world wide swine flu, melting polar ice caps. Maybe it is the apocalypse.

Lots of fill coming from Creswell’s 5th street remodel project. We ended up with over 250 truckloads (including pup trailers) of fill on both sides of the street. It was almost too much of a good thing, but in the end it turned out awesome.

The grass seed farmers have some serious equipment. In addition to the six combines (about $1.25MM), they contracted a different company to bale the straw. Seven new Kubotas and balers add another $700K or so to the capital equipment. On the revenue side, this year, farmers were getting $.19 per pound for seed, which is about $.10 per pound less than is costs. Last year, they were getting $.96 per pound, and they grossed about $200K from the 200 acres of leased Furrer Farms property.

7/3/2009 Hooking up Infiltrator drain field lines for the yurt. The yurt had a septic tank, but the utility contractors cut the drain field line when putting in the underground electrical. Check out Aaron’s hat. It was about 95 degrees, so it was needed.

6/25/09. Our hay is finally baled! Once it was cut we had a couple days of rain, but since the hay was not in windrows or bales, it did not hurt it. We ended up with 975 bales. Half of them went to the custome hay service, so Jon, Casey, Aaron and other volunteers helped us get it all in the barn over the next three days.
